Are Seriously Tasty Pies seriously tasty pies?

Seriously Tasty Pies Roast Chicken Pie Review

When it comes to supermarket pie selections, ASDA seems to have really upped its game. Here is another offering from ASDA, this time in the form of a Seriously Tasty Pies Roast Chicken pie. At just £1.00, this is a total bargain! Or is it?

seriously tasty pies

Taking this "big fill" "heat and eat" pie out of the oven, it's taken on a nice golden colour, and the puff pastry is glistening quite nicely. The pastry does look a little light and thin though, but the condition of the pie is good.

In this cross-sectional view, you can see the thin-ness of the pastry - I'd prefer it to be a bit thicker. The pie isn't completely filled to capacity - I wouldn't call it "big fill" - but the air:filling ratio is still satisfactory. The chicken is not at all chewy, but it's the consistency and taste of the gravy that is the main selling point of this pie for me. It is smooth, tasty and the perfect thickness. The content is certainly tasty and the roast chicken flavour very unique and not something I'd tried before.

Overall, this pie was very cheap, and very tasty. However, the pastry was a bit thin, and although the gravy was nice, it didn't have that authentic "home-made" feel. The chunks of chicken were also quite small. I would definitely buy this pie again though, because the cheapness more than made up for this pie's faults.

  1. Had the Classic steak pie from Seriously tasty pies. There was hardly any meat in it, just mush. The pastry was very nice but no filling. Rubbish.

Had the steak and dark ale pie last night. Chose this pie because I'd got fed up with the lack of filling in my old fav Pukka.....picture on the box did NOTmatch the filling inside the pie,,, two small pieces of beef, Really how do they get away with this blatant miss representation

  3. "seriously tasty pasties traditional" described as "a blend of minced beef (why minced?), potato, onion, carrot and swedewrapped in a golden puff pastry" with a very alluring and appetising picture of said pasty on its wrapping. The actuality is a shortcrust pastry (puff pastry is flaky and light - this is solid and dense)stuffed with a heavily peppered solid GREY sludge - this product contradicts the product description and trading standards regs on so many levels it is frightening. I would not be surprised to hear that the protein content of this abomination is derived from horse/squirrel/badger or other roadkill - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

  6. I bought a Tasty Classic Steak pie (seriously tasty) yesterday at Asda.

Taking it out of the box it looked great and I heated it up as per instructions.

The pasty is fab both short crust and puff and I ate the lot.

Why I ate it all was because I was searching for some meat and must admit to finding 3 tiny pieces hidden in a slurry of something greyish (not gravy) that constituted most of

    the contents of the pie.

Pity that even at £1 its not worth it, despite great packaging and the picture on the box that would make you drool but alas a complete fiction.

Was all set to buy 6 and freeze them but need I say more ? you can guess I’m not smiling.

  7. Just had the steak and dark ale pie. “Seriously tasty”!!! “Seriously not”!!! One piece of meat in a “deep fill” pie. Pastry awful. They need to remove this product from the supermarket shelves or rebrand the packaging. How can they get away with this?

  10. Have to agree with all comments. Steak & Dark Ale Big Fill pie had one piece of meat, some gristle and mush. Wish I had not bought 2. Will never buy again. Nothing like the picture on the box

  11. I bought 3 Steak ans Dark Ale pies from Asda last week. Cooked 2 and on eating found the meat was tough and very difficult to eat. I've given the third one to my Son in Law to taste.
